Technical Director | Senior Engineering Manager
The Opportunity
Are you a systems-minded engineering leader who loves bringing complex platforms together? We’re looking for a senior technical leader to guide wholeโofโplatform engineering on a nationโshaping maritime program. You’ll set the technical direction, bring crossโfunctional teams together, and ensure designs are integrated, safe, and ready for service. If you enjoy turning big engineering challenges into clear plans and outcomes, this role puts you at the center of delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide senior technical leadership and design authority across multiโdiscipline engineering teams
- Drive systems engineering best practice across the lifecycle, ensuring designs are integrated, verified, and fit for purpose
- Lead design governance and reviews, manage risk/issue resolution, and champion safety and certification outcomes
- Oversee configuration/change control and ensure highโquality engineering plans, processes, and documentation
- Engage confidently with customers, primes, and internal stakeholders to align priorities and clear blockers
- 10+ years in complex systems engineering (maritime/defence/regulated industries ideal) with proven leadership of multiโdisciplinary teams
- Track record guiding platformโlevel integration, assurance, and delivery in highโconsequence environments
- Deep understanding of systems engineering and verification/validation; comfortable with design governance and change control
- Clear communicator who builds trust with executives, customers, and delivery teams
- Degree in Engineering (Chartered/Registered highly regarded)
