Are you a Senior Quality Engineer with deep nuclear expertise, ready to move beyond maintaining systems and start building them from the ground up? We are seeking a technical authority to shape the quality framework for a nation-defining, once-in-a-generation defence program.

This is a pivotal role where you won't just be adhering to standards—you'll be instrumental in creating them. As a key technical authority, you will develop and implement the foundational Nuclear Quality Management System that will underpin Australia’s future sovereign submarine capability.

If you are passionate about applying your deep expertise to ensure uncompromising safety and compliance in a highly regulated environment, this is your chance to make a lasting legacy.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, author, and implement the core Nuclear Quality Management System to satisfy stringent regulatory and licensing demands.
  • Act as a key technical liaison, managing and guiding external SMEs and specialist sub-contractors to ensure program deliverables are met.
  • Provide expert advice on all Nuclear Quality Control and Assurance activities, including inspection, audit, and governance.
  • Contribute to the development of formal submissions to regulatory bodies in support of licensing applications.
  • Mentor and develop junior quality and assurance personnel, fostering a culture of excellence within the team.
  • Champion best practices in nuclear quality, driving proactive interventions to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance.
About You
  • Demonstrated experience in a nuclear quality role is essential.
  • Experience gained in a naval dockyard, shipyard, civil nuclear power, or a similar high-hazard regulated environment is crucial.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or a relevant trade-based background with extensive nuclear experience (SQEP).
  • Deep understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS), governance, Sub Safe principles, and compliance within highly regulated industries.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, managing diverse stakeholders including technical teams, external contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
What’s on Offer
  • Excellent Salary Package: A competitive salary of $170,000 - $180,000 per annum + Superannuation.
  • Permanent, Landmark Program: This is a full-time, permanent staff position on one of Australia's most significant and secure defence programs.
  • Foundational Role with Lasting Impact: Join at a critical stage where you can directly influence the frameworks and culture of a future sovereign capability.
  • Career Growth & Development: This long-term program offers unparalleled opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
  • Perth-Based Opportunity: Enjoy the stability of a residential role based in the Henderson/Perth metropolitan area.
