Travel to regional, rural and remote communities as a RAN or as a Travel Registered Nurse, and deliver essential and emergency healthcare under challenging, culturally diverse environments. Provide primary healthcare, manage triage, respond to emergencies, and deliver maternal and pediatric care autonomously.
Key Responsibilities
- Triage and manage acute and complex presentations.
- Provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) in emergencies and stabilise critical patients.
- Deliver primary healthcare services and health education to local communities.
- Collaborate with Health Workers, GPs, allied health professionals, and visiting specialists.
- Participate in patient transfers, retrieval coordination, and maintain clinical documentation.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialists with unrestricted AHPRA registration.
- Certifications in ALS, PALS, and Triage.
- Recent emergency or primary care experience (typically 2 to 5 years)
- Experience as a Remote Area Nurse is essential
- Ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently in Single Nurse Posts
Highly Desirable:
- MEC (Maternity Emergency Care) and REC (Remote Emergency Care) qualifications
- Rural or remote nursing experience.
- Nurse immuniser or pharmacotherapeutics endorsements.
- Ability to drive 4WD or willingness to travel by small aircraft.
- Cultural competency and adaptability to autonomous settings.
