The Opportunity

Our client is a rapidly expanding Tier 2 Civil & Mining Contractor entering a major growth phase. They are winning work across Bulk Earthworks, Civil Infrastructure, Dewatering, and Maintenance.

To support this growth, they need a hands-on Operations Manager to act as the driving force behind their projects. This is a role for a leader who prefers the site to the boardroom and wants to have a tangible impact on production.

The Role
Reporting directly to the EGM, you will sit above the Construction Managers and Project Managers. You are the "Fixer" and the "Driver," responsible for troubleshooting production issues, mentoring PMs, and managing Tier 1 clients face-to-face.

Key Requirements & Location:
This is not a standard Perth office role. While you will have a desk in West Perth, your primary focus is on-site delivery.
  • For the first 2 months, expect to be on-site 4-5 days a week to set the standard, build the culture, and drive the initial push.
  • Y ou will travel to sites (Pilbara/Goldfields) 2-4 days a week, every week. You will be home every weekend.
What You'll Do:
  • Drive safety, P&L, and production across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Act as the escalation point for project issues. When a project slides, you go to site, identify the bottleneck, and fix it.
  • Manage relationships with Tier 1 clients (Rio/BHP/FMG), translating "Boardroom Strategy" into "Site Reality."
  • Guide your Construction Managers and PMs to become better commercial leaders.
About You
You are likely a Senior Project Manager, Project Director, or Operations Manager currently working for a Tier 2 Civil Contractor (e.g., NRW, MACA, Georgiou). You understand the agility required in a Tier 2 environment versus Tier 1 bureaucracy.
  • Significant experience delivering Civil, Earthworks, or NPI projects within a Mining environment.
  • You know how to manage a P&L, handle variations, and protect the margin.
  • You get bored sitting in an office for 5 days a week. You want to be where the dirt is moving.
  • You have the polish to present to executives but the grit to talk to operators in the pit.
The Reward
  • Circa $300,000 Package (Base + Super + Vehicle).
  • Real Influence: You are the right hand to the EGM with the autonomy to make fast decisions.
  • Weekends Home: High operational involvement without missing weekends with the family.
