The Opportunity
Our client is a stable, expanding Tier 2 Contractor delivering Mining SMP, Civil, and Construction projects. They are currently scaling up operations and need a commercial HR Manager to support that growth.
This is a "Build" role, not a "Maintain" role. You aren’t stepping into a massive, rigid HR department to just keep the lights on. You are stepping in to take the reins, handle the day-to-day, and eventually build a team across all divisions.
• This is a Mon-Fri role. It is not a WFH or hybrid position. You need to be present to support the EGM and the leadership team.
• You have an HR Admin for support and an outgoing consultant to hand over, but initially, you must be willing to get your hands dirty. You will fix the foundations and handle the operational HR before you hire the team to support you.
The Role
Reporting to the EGM, this is a blend of commercial strategy and operational delivery. You aren’t just the "People Person"; you are a business leader who understands risk, finance, and compliance.
• You understand business risk, the financial implications of labor, and strategies for growth. You protect the company’s bottom line.
• You will manage the IR/ER, contracts, and compliance. You know the difference between a minor dispute and a major liability.
• You are the authority on Mining SMP and Civil awards/remuneration.
• Once you have the desk under control, your remit is to grow the HR function, recruiting and training a team to support the diverse divisions.
About You
You are an experienced HR Manager or Senior Business Partner coming from the Mining Services, Civil, or Construction sectors. You understand that in a Tier 2 environment, you wear multiple hats.
• You know the Mining/Civil landscape. You understand the specific awards, rosters, and pressures of this industry.
• You are "Business First, HR Second." You understand P&L, risk mitigation, and planning.
• You are happy to roll your sleeves up. You don't need a team of five people to get a contract written or an investigation completed.
• You want a role where you are present, visible, and driving the culture from the front.
The Reward
• Great opportunity for growth
• $220k to $250k salary
• Ownership: You are building this department in your image.
• Stability: A stable company with a massive pipeline of work.
