Drill & Blast Engineer | Technical & Civil Specialist
FIFO ex-Perth
2:2 Even Roster
Highly Competitive Hourly Rate (Negotiable based on experience)

The Opportunity
Are you a Drill & Blast Engineer who prefers technical precision over standard production blasting?

We are partnering exclusively with a leading client to secure a D&B specialist for Major WA Project. Unlike standard open-pit production roles, this position sits at the intersection of Mining and Civil engineering. It requires a technical expert capable of managing complex blast designs near sensitive receivers and heritage zones.

This is your chance to step away from repetitive bulk blasting and take ownership of a technically challenging scope on a 2:2 even-time roster.

Why This Role Stands Out
  • The Technical Challenge: You won't just be designing patterns; you will be managing vibration, flyrock, and fragmentation constraints in a complex environment involving heritage sites and sensitive receivers.
  • The Balance: A true 2:2 roster offers the perfect balance between site involvement and downtime in Perth.
  • The Scope: Blend your mining expertise with civil earthworks drill and blast requirements.
  • Earning Potential: Our client recognizes that niche skills command top rates. We are happy to negotiate a package that reflects your specific experience in sensitive blasting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-precision blast designs and tie-ins using Maptek Vulcan (Essential).
  • Manage drill and blast activities for both mining and civil infrastructure earthworks.
  • Conduct rigorous vibration modeling and monitoring to ensure total compliance with heritage zone exclusion areas and sensitive receiver limits.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to optimize fragmentation while adhering to strict environmental and geotechnical constraints.
  • Provide technical mentoring to the site-based team and ensure QA/QC standards are met.

About You
To succeed in this role, you are a practical Engineer who prefers technical challenges over standard production runs. You have deep expertise in Vulcan and the confidence to manage blasting near sensitive heritage and civil zones.
  • Qualification: Degree in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering (with blasting experience).
  • Software: You must be proficient in Maptek Vulcan for blast design.
  • Experience: Proven history in surface mining and civil blasting projects.
  • The Niche: Specific experience managing blasting operations near heritage sites, infrastructure, or sensitive receivers is highly valued.
  • Location: You are currently based in WA and available for FIFO from Perth.

What's on Offer
  • Immediate start on a high-profile WA project.
  • Attractive 2:2 roster
  • Rate negotiable: We represent a client willing to pay for the right technical skillset.
