About the Opportunity:

Are you looking to move beyond a standard role and make a foundational impact? Do you have a strong background in design and a passion for project controls?

We are partnering with a leader in the engineering sector to find a talented Project Controls Officer for their new Power & Energy business unit. This is a rare opportunity to join a "start-up" division within a long-standing, stable company, offering the perfect blend of entrepreneurial spirit and corporate support.

This newly created position is designed to be pivotal. You will not only contribute to major turnkey projects but will also help shape the very frameworks and processes the team uses. This role is intended to evolve into a key leadership position within this high-growth division.

What You'll Do:
  • Shape the Foundation: Develop and implement design management frameworks, QA processes, and document control systems for a new business unit.
  • Drive Project Success: Plan, coordinate, and execute design activities for large-scale industrial, utility, and energy projects from "cradle to grave."
  • Technical Design: Create and coordinate multi-disciplinary designs in 2D and 3D using AutoCAD and Revit, ensuring compliance with all standards.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager and Project Engineers, assisting with project planning, cost monitoring, status reporting, and tender preparation.
  • Risk Management: Actively participate in risk assessments, including Safety in Design (SiD), HAZID, and HAZOP workshops.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a supportive team culture and play a key role in the growth and success of the Power & Energy team.

What You'll Bring:
  • An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 qualification (or higher) in Computer-Aided Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a project-based role (e.g., Project Controls, Design Coordination, Project Engineering Support).
  • Experience working within a construction, electrical engineering, or major projects environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit is essential.
  • Strong technical aptitude with exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Desirable Skills :
  • Proficiency with Aconex.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • A formal qualification in design management
