Our client, is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Carpenter
to join our team. This is a full-time position playing a vital role in maintaining and upgrading port infrastructure, working closely with supervisors, leading small teams on-site, and ensuring seamless port operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with Supervisor to plan and organise carpentry and maintenance works;
- Leading and coordinate small teams, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and within schedule;
- Operating forklifts (2.5 t and 7 t) and rig loads for the Franna crane to manoeuvre materials on wharf facilities;
- Removing and replacing wharf deck componentry—bolts, steel plates, and timber—to ensure structural integrity;
- Supporting and assisting the concrete repair crew with patching, forming, and minor concrete repair works;
- Adhering to all workplace health & safety regulations, including permit-to-work systems, toolbox talks, and incident/hazard reporting; and
- Maintaining accurate records of activities, materials used, and safety checks.
To be considered you must possess:
- Proven carpentry experience—particularly in heavy industrial, maritime, or port environments.
- Competent forklift operator: 2.5 t and 7 t rated licences.
- Experience rigging/unrigging loads for crane (Franna or similar).
- Ability to remove and fit deck components: steel plates, bolts, timber, etc.
- Experience in minor concrete repairs (patching, forming, finishing).
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead small teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Current 'C' or 'CA' class manual driver's licence.
- Physically fit, resilient, and able to work in demanding outdoor environments.
- Willingness to work shift patterns and irregular hours.
- A strong commitment to safety, with experience in permit-to-work systems and hazard management.
- Previous maritime or port infrastructure experience is desirable.
- Formal trade certification or accredited carpentry qualifications is desirable.
