An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Subcontracts Specialist to join a major project environment, supporting the formation and administration of complex construction and services subcontracts.
This role will suit a commercially astute contracts professional with extensive experience across the full subcontract lifecycle — from tender preparation and commercial evaluation through to negotiation, contract administration, variations, claims and close-out.
The Role Working as part of an established project and supply chain team, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of moderately complex subcontracts and provide commercial and contractual support throughout project delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing subcontract formation and administration from tender through to execution and delivery
- Preparing and issuing bid request packages and subcontract documentation
- Developing bidder lists and supporting contractor prequalification
- Managing tender queries, clarifications and commercial bid evaluations
- Preparing commercial bid summaries and recommendations
- Leading subcontract negotiations and supporting contract award
- Monitoring subcontractor progress, performance and contractual compliance
- Identifying and communicating emerging commercial, financial and contractual risks
- Managing RFIs, change notices, variations, change orders and amendments
- Negotiating contract changes and commercial settlements
- Supporting claims and dispute resolution
- Coordinating with project, engineering, construction and other functional teams
- Conducting pre-bid, clarification and pre-award meetings
- Maintaining accurate contractual records, actions and documentation
You will bring significant experience managing contracts within major construction, engineering, infrastructure, mining or resources projects.
Ideally, you will have:
- A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent international qualification
- 10–12 years' relevant contracts/subcontracts experience
- Strong experience in both subcontract formation and contract administration
- Experience managing large and moderately complex construction and services contracts
- Knowledge across a range of contract types and pricing structures
- Strong experience with variations, change management, claims and dispute resolution
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate contractual terms, conditions and commercial outcomes
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams
The position also offers hybrid working arrangements, including up to two days per week working remotely, subject to project requirements.
